In support of design education, 828 hosted students from AB Tech College for a studio tour and talk. For them, it was a real-life look at the inner workings of a design studio. For us, it was a reminder of why we love what we do.

10th Anniversary of CDMP Annual Report

For the sixth year in a row, 828 has produced the Annual Report for NOAA’s Climate Database Modernization Program (CDMP). This edition was special in that it’s the 10th Anniversary of the program. CDMP is responsible for archiving national (and some international) climate related data that dates as far back as the 1700’s. This is both a print report as well as a DVD presentation. We partnered with Bonesteel Films of Asheville, NC to produce the video.

We’ve recently had work published in the Big Book of Green Design. Our logo and stationery system for Winter Green, of Asheville, NC can be found on page 152.

Winter Green is a non-profit organization focused on sustainable food production during the winter months. The organization helps set up and maintain (and teach about) hoop-house food production for local schools, individuals, and various other groups.

In the interest of bringing awareness to the subject of sustainability in the field of graphic design, 828 has joined The Designers Accord. The Designers Accord is a global coalition of designers, educators, and business leaders, working together to create positive environmental and social impact. By adopting the philosophies and guidelines of The Designers Accord, we intend to keep on open dialogue with our clients about environmental and social impact as well as sustainable alternatives. We’re also working hard to reduce our own carbon footprint and educate ourselves on new technologies and materials as they become available.
